LIFE IS A RAINBOW

Last day…

As soon as I get to the bus stop is starts to rain and doesn’t stop for the rest of my time in Ireland. I realize how lucky I’ve been that in the entire time I’ve been here, there has been only one half-day of serious rain.

I was also lucky to meet so many over-the-top interesting people, to always find the best soup and soda bread, and to be able travel in a way that allowed me to be so close to the natural world.

And… Just before Tralee, the bus comes over the mountain and down toward the Tralee Bay and there is the most beautiful rainbow that ends in the water! It has every color prominently displayed and reminds me of the creative diversity in Ireland. It is a fitting send off that confirms: The end of the rainbow truly is in Ireland!

Reflections

The rainbow is such a great symbol. The arc represents the many ups and downs and constant movement of life. Sometimes it’s an uphill struggle, sometimes we pause at the top taking stock, and sometimes we get that glorious easy-peazy flow of a downhill where everything is in alignment.

When reaching a summit one feels such a sense of accomplishment, and there is a grand view to see ahead and you can see what is possible. It is a fleeting moment - and represents something we cannot hold on to - just like we really can’t hold onto people, animals or experiences. We can be in the moment with it all though, and hold onto the memories.

A rainbow’s colors represent our many experiences. While we may not always notice the colors while experiencing it, by stepping back and seeing our rainbow from the distance of time, we can give pause and reflection and appreciate what it has taught us. It’s all information, and our choice on how we perceive it. Best to stay in awe of the beauty and wonder that the rainbow provides us.
